If they don't, there is a problem. My best buddy in high school did not grow and might have been nearly a midget. But in his senior year, doctors gave him shots to make him grow. Growth is development or improvement toward a goal called "maturity" or, in the Bible, "perfection".
When one is "born again" as a child of God, he is spiritually immature. As time passes, he should develop the qualities or abilities which the Bible says characterize the mature. A congregation matures as individual members mature.
Many problems result when members fail to grow: some go back to the world, others cause strife because of ignorance or become stumblingblocks because of irregular attendance, worldliness, or indifference.
Just as a baby needs to do certain things to grow physically, so Christians need certain kinds of activities to grow spiritually.
Steps to Spiritual Maturity: Growing up in Christ
When members don't grow, it is because they lack one or more of these. Parents and kids become so excited when kids learn something new - the first step, first word, draw picture, etc. Everyone wants them to develop new abilities. Parents sometimes use this to encourage children. When Tim was small, he wanted to drink milk because Bill Buckner Cubs' first baseman advertised it.
Some seem to like being spiritual babies. They don't want to grow. It's easy to be a baby - no responsibility.
Others feed you, clothe you, change your diaper. In the church, you don't have to teach, rebuke sin, or do work. It's a free ride! But being a baby is not the goal of life. We are born babies so we can grow up and be productive and useful. Likewise, we are born again, so we can become mature Christians, actively serving the Lord. This will lead us to grow and improve in God's work. Otherwise, we have not accomplished our purpose for becoming children of God.
We should ask ourselves, "Don't I want to grow up to be spiritually strong like Jesus? They may start off on fire for the Lord, but lose their zeal. They develop a spirit of indifference or negligence. Others develop a level of maturity and stagnate. They are satisfied, thinking no more growth is needed.
Philippians - Even Paul, as mature as he was, did not consider himself to have achieved perfection maturity such that he could cease striving to improve. He forgot past achievements and failures and pressed on to greater accomplishments.
Matthew - Peter thought he had reached a level where he would never deny Jesus. But that very night he denied Him three times. Christians never reach the point we are so mature that we cannot fall. They have no desire to work and serve to the full extent of their ability. What does it take to begin a relationship with God? Do you need to devote yourself to unselfish religious deeds?

The Holy Spirit begins to work in us and transform us. We become less like the world and more like Christ. The Spirit helps us to overcome sin and deny the flesh. Spiritual growth glorifies God in many ways. Here are a couple. First, it glorifies God because we see how God is working in us.
Second, it glories God because as we grow and the love of God works in us we want to glorify God more. We want to honor Him with our life. Spiritual growth is centered around Christ. You must trust in Christ, focus on Christ, pray that God conforms you into the image of Christ, and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to yourself daily. That is how we think.Festival debussy... in the centenary of claude debussys death
This is a great man of God he knows so much about the Word. Knowledge can be evidence of spiritual growth, but there are many times when it has nothing to do with growth. There are many people who know and never grow.Free receive sms co
This is a heart of a Pharisee. You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness.
You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. Sometimes we can think of spiritual growth just like growing up. I will share a few things. When I first got saved I still listened to ungodly worldly music and watched Rated R movies that had sex in it, a lot of cursing, etc. As time went on these things started to affect me more and more.
My heart became burdened. It took a while, but God started to remove these things from my life. I grew up. God is realer to me then these things of the world.
I will share something else. I used to purposely buy clothes that would show off my body more. God spoke to me and even as a Christian man we need to show modesty and not try to cause others to stumble. Now I buy better fitting clothes. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
Like newborn infants, desire the pure spiritual milk, so that you may grow by it for your salvation, since you have tasted that the Lord is good.Rather, let our lives lovingly express truth in all things--speaking truly, dealing truly, living truly.1989 chevy motorhome
Enfolded in love, let us grow up in every way and in all things into Him, Who is the Head, even Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed one" EphesiansAmplified Bible. We are "babes in Christ. It would not be normal for a baby to be born, and the same day begin to walk and talk. He must go through many stages of development before he is physically and mentally able to do these things.
But a baby is expected to grow and develop. For instance, if a two-year-old child is still not walking, there is cause for concern. As it is with the natural world, so is it with the spiritual world. When we come into the church of Jesus Christ, most of us have much to learn.
We are not yet ready for the "meat" of God's Word. We must stick to our "milk bottle" for a while. Peter tells us that as "new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby" 1 Peter For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age mature. Paul calls the "milk of the word" the "first principles of the oracles of God.
Paul refers to these six principles of the doctrine of Christ as the very foundation of our Christian experience and life. That is what a newborn babe needs--a good, solid foundation upon which he can build his life for Jesus!
The newborn babe does not need to understand all the mysteries connected with the books of Daniel and Revelation. He needs to understand and be persuaded of the truths that have brought him into his new relationship with Jesus Christ faith toward God, repentance, baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. He needs to have an understanding that there is life after death, and that some day all men will stand before the judgment throne of God.
Besides these truths, the new Christian needs to be taught important principles that lead to spiritual growth: prayer and fasting, faithfulness to God and His body, worship, giving, holiness, etc. Natural: A newborn babe is totally dependent upon his parents for all his needs. He cannot sit, crawl, walk, nor run.
He cannot feed himself, nor change his diapers. All his needs are met by other people. The Key to Spiritual Growth DR CHARLES STANLEY
He often must make those needs known by crying, as he has no other way to express them. Spiritual: A new convert must be taught how to study and read the Bible. He does not have the ability to "feed himself. He must be taught how to walk with God, the same as a natural baby must learn to sit up, stand, and eventually walk. The natural baby will often fall, until its muscles are more fully developed.
It is the same with the spiritual. Therefore the saints and leaders must have much patience as the new convert gradually develops his "spiritual muscles. NOTE: Sometimes the saints bring people to church, and after they are converted, they expect the pastor to do all the "mothering.
They will still look to you for further guidance, help, and understanding. If it was love that compelled you to witness to them, then that same love should still manifest itself toward them after they are in the church! THE CHILD STAGE: "That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up.
Whoseover therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven" Matthew From the verses of Scripture in Ephesians and Matthew we can see that there are negative and positive things connected with the nature of a child.Fear is a universal emotion.
